This book was an excellent tool for my Training Methods class. There were several sections on new training methods, and explained in easy to understand terms, the proper methodology in developing a training program. I would recommend this for anyone needing help in developing a training manual, or who needs general guidelines on setting up a training program for others.

You will probably be purchasing this book for the same reason I did: you are in some kind of advanced degree program, and it's required for the course. And that would be the only reason I would condone buying it.

This book is dry, folks. And it's filled with little gems like "employees learn more from training programs they enjoy." Oh really? REALLY??

A must read...Love this series

I have been anticipating this book for a month. There was not one ounce of disappointment either. Sandi hit it out of the park with this one. What a beautiful story and told so well. They really are each other's Lobster. This book will leave you with every emotion; laughing, angry, crying and moat of all loving. If you haven't read the other two books, read them! Your a great story teller Sandi. Can't wait for Ransom next

Well, I guess this is how it's gonna be; each book just as fab as the one before it! Harley's Achilles revolves around the lives of Harley Payne and his bodyguard, Achilles Castellanos. By the end of the last book, Jinxed, we were left knowing that there was something bound to happen between the two of them.
Harley always seemed a bit lost in the first two books. His character is childlike and more vulnerable than the rest of the band, considering he's in his early thirties. He's incredibly loyal, giving, devilish, sexy and lovable, but he doesn't see this about himself. Harley not only suffers from the physical loss of his brother, but the psychological loss at the hands of his parents. It's truly heartbreaking as he comes to terms of being ignored; not being seen. You feel his cry for attention.
Luckily for Harley, he has a Greek God to help him find his way. Enter Achilles. He's not only ex military who's hot as all hell, smart, strong and bossy, he's as lovable as Harley. I adored his family in Greece. They accept Achilles as he is and treat Harley as a real family should. Achilles has his own demons that he needs to come to terms with. It was a beautiful thing to see how in helping Harley, he also helps himself.
This book was filled with plenty of man love, I mean c'mon, Achilles and Harley? Just the visual alone made me hope my blood pressure meds were working! Of course, the antics and funny banter between the band members had me laughing my head off! I've mentioned this about the second book, but it's funny how Gareth, the youngest of all the guys, is still the voice of reason, lol. Most of all, you can't help but get caught up in the love between every one of them. They are all brothers and that in itself, made me realize that Harley never truly was alone. Sandrine's attention to detail, especially describing the beauty of Greece, and the passion she gives to each of her characters, made this an incredible 5 lobster claw read for me.

I love this author and I had high hopes for this ...

I love this author and I had high hopes for this book. It just didn't seem like she had enough of a story to pull it all together. There is no resolution, good or bad, with the original conflict of Harley's parents. The addition of the conflict of someone trying to harm Achilles didn't vibe with the history of the band. I'm glad I read it and I can't wait for Ransom's book but it is not nearly as good as Gareth or Jinx's books.

Alan Knight is Professor Emeritus of the History of Latin America at Oxford University. His work focuses on twentieth-century Mexico, but also ranges into earlier periods of Mexican history, as well as broader modern Latin American history. He has been a Guggenheim Fellow, a Leverhulme Research Reader, and a Fellow of the British Academy and, in 2010, he was awarded the Aztec Eagle by the Mexcan government. A scholarly work that tells the reader more about Afghanistan, Iran, and Pakistan then any tour book and most encyclopedias. The mosaic tapestry of peoples, cultures, and religious sects is presented clearly and with great detail. Each nation is presented as the heir to a unique civilization, but is torn by ethnic divisions and political instability. As three non-Arab Islamic nations that exist along ancient invasion routes overlapping into Western, Central, and South Asia the common historical bonds are explored, but the differences are also pointed out. Like many countries in the Near East ethnic groups overlap past the modern frontiers, creating concerns about nationalism and secessionist movements. All of these issues are explored as are larger geo-political ones regarding the military, civil unrest, and the role of democracy in three undemocratic societies (although Pakistan has moved towards a more democratic status of late). Although somewhat dated, the material covered is a relevant today (2006) as it was over 14 years ago. I do not consider myself an expert in the political and econoic dynamics of the area. I do desire to learn and found this book a good foundation.

This textbook is intended for those second year undergraduates in science and engineering
who will later need an understanding of electromagnetic theory and quantum mechanics. The classical physics of oscillations and waves is developed at a more advanced level than has been customary for the second year, providing a basis for the quantum mechanics that follows. In this new edition the Green's function is explained, reinforcing the integration of quantum mechanics with classical physics. The text may also form the basis of an "introduction to theoretical physics" for physics majors. The concluding chapters give special attention to topics in current wave physics: nonlinear waves, solitons, and chaotic behavior.

A text for a second pass through the subject matter

This is a somewhat advanced text demonstrating efficient methods available for solving problems in wave-related physics. As such, the text is good for someone who has already had the following math and physics courses at the 3rd or 4th year undergraduate level:

Classical Mechanics
Electricity and Magnetism
Quantum Mechanics
Partial Differential Equations
Linear Algebra
Complex Analysis

The text is presented as being suitable for people without this preparation. It is targeted at students in "accelerated programs" at the intermediate undergraduate level, but that is unrealistic. Bright students will probably manage to "muddle through" the book and the homework assignments but will miss the physical insights available from more careful treatments. If you are looking to learn material on waves for the first time, this is not the book for you.
However, if you are an advanced undergraduate (senior) or beginning graduate student, this book is valuable for its sophisticated and unifying perspective on material that you will have seen in your upper undergraduate level classes. Towards the end of the book, the author introduces solitons and chaos with a level of detail not usually seen in texts for undergraduates. Although it is an advanced book for an undergraduate, it is not an "advanced graduate" text (read: "research prep." a'la Springer Monographs).

In short, it is an excellent book to own and read if you already have, or are about to have, a degree in physics. Otherwise, look elsewhere.
