Outstanding Book on Rural Surveillance Methods

Really an outstanding book on surveillance methods - especially those conducted in rural areas and remote country. The book is very comprehensive and covers a broad range of topics: fieldcraft, hides and Ghillie suits, patrol techniques, observation and close target reconnaissance, all types of equipment (incl. radios, antennas, and cameras), and methods for reporting information. I was very impressed by the degree of detail that the author has included in this book - the effort he has put into the writing is just phenomenal.

If you have any interest in surveillance techniques, this book is a must have for your bookshelf - along with "Surveillance Tradecraft" by Peter Jenkins. The two books go hand-in-hand.

About the Author
As a professional development coordinator for the Conway, New Hampshire, School District, Penny Kittle acts as a K-12 literacy coach and directs new-teacher mentoring. In addition, she teaches writing at Conway's Kennett High School and in the Summer Literacy Institutes at the University of New Hampshire. Penny is the author and coauthor of numerous books with Heinemann including Book Love: Developing Depth, Stamina, and Passion in Adolescent Readers; Children Want to Write (coauthored with Thomas Newkirk); Write Beside Them: Risk, Voice, and Clarity in High School Writing, which won the 2009 James N. Britton Award from NCTE; The Greatest Catch, and Public Teaching. Penny coauthored two books with Donald H. Graves - Inside Writing and Quick Writes. As an in-demand Heinemann Professional Development Provider Penny delivers PD workshops, webinars, and on-site seminars and consulting services nationwide. An action plan for English classrooms!

High school English teachers, this is what we've been waiting for! Kittle shows us why and how to motivate our teen students to find books they love and, in the process, improve their reading levels - which is something we are not accomplishing with our current, outdated methods. This book has inspired me to be determined: I WILL find a way to fund, stock, and maintain a classroom library that will get kids reading, thinking, and writing. Thank you, Penny Kittle.

An unbelievable surprise

And by unbelievable, I mean truly fantastic. I had bought part 1 in the original single issues, and my lcbs had stopped carrying it about where vol 2 begins. The art was breathtaking, and the story was an alternate universe romp that could have happened here. There aren't enough words to praise this volume. Excellent read with intriguing plot!

It's been my experience, as a fan of comic books, that Dark Horse publishes some of the best works in comics today. Arvid Nelson's Rex Mundi is no exception. If you're looking for a beautiful work of art that blends horror and mystery with historical fiction, then this will be one of the greatest reads that you will come across. I can point to this book as one of my favorite comic books series of all time. I count it as being greater than any of Alan Moore's books for entertainment value.

And some awesome twists came at end

Picking up on what I was saying about the first Omnibus, not sure if the switch-up in artists was intentional, but it works, in a weird way, since the story shifts into more of a two-fisted adventure. And some awesome twists came at end, which I honestly did not see coming! Arvid Nelson digs deep into the intrigue, every "resolution" leading you further down the rabbit hole. Again, I really love it.
