great book, but meant for those looking for mass production mfg procedures

like my title suggests, this book is very informative for those who do not know how the various processes used in current product & furniture manufacturing...which is GOOD, yes, but I thought the book might contain some information on producing low-number runs or prototypes...but of course, that is my fault I suppose. Some of the CNC techniques towards the end of the book can be applied to low # runs though.

If you are current and working in the field, this book will be a redundancy as you will most likely be familiar with most if not all of the processes, but can still serve a useful place on your bookshelf.

The book is well laid out, informative while remaining concise...good use of pictures too.

Buy this book:

a) if you are new to the field and/or want a good guidebook to current manufacturing techniques

or

b) if you are well versed, you can use this information to present to clients so they have a better understanding of costs vs. impacts of the different techniques involved

Since I already have "Manufacturing Processes for Design Professionals", this book doesn't go much further. If you don't want to spend so much money with the big one, buy the little one. It's fine.

About the Author
Dr. Michael Harris is one of the founders of San Francisco Voice for Israel, which is now the Bay Area chapter of StandWithUs. Founded in 2004, SF Voice for Israel has countered anti-Israel demonstrations, to provide the public and the media with an alternative to the lies being promoted by organizations such as International ANSWER and Jewish Voice for Peace. It has also done proactive public outreach at community events and brought pro-Israel speakers to the Bay Area. As part of StandWithUs, founded in 2001, the group is now part of a worldwide Israel education organization with chapters across the US as well as in Europe and Australia.

In his role with the group, Dr. Harris has made appearances on radio shows (both in the US and in Israel) and television news reports as a local spokesperson, countering misinformation about Israel. He’s given speeches to large groups at synagogues, churches, political organizations and senior citizen centers throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. In addition, he’s been in the trenches, standing up for Israel against anti-Israel demonstrators on the streets of San Francisco and Oakland for nearly a decade. In his spare time, he is a pediatrician in Marin County, California.

Must have for anyone interested in bringing some sanity back in the debate on the Middle East conflict

Dr. Mike Harris (he's a real MD, not a doctor in philosohpy) just published this little gem of a book that everyone with even the most remote interest in Israel advocacy will absolutely want to get a copy of right now. The title may sound like a tad ambitious, but Mike knows what he's talking about. As one of the leaders of pro-Israel activism in the Bay Area, one of the nation's worst den of brainwashed leftists, he's come face-to-face on more than one occasion with what he refers to clinically (he's a doc, after all) as PIDS, i.e. People with Israel Derangement Syndrome. Good diagnostic, doc!

As a result, his book is filled with information and sensible advice on how to handle some of the most common situations that pro-Israel activists find themselves in when confronting PIDS either in our country or in Canada. The depth of Mike's knowledge of history will impress you, and you will find yourself reading his book as others would enjoy a fine liqueur. If you have kids in college, order as many copies as you need and send them this book right now. Even if they're not directly involved in pro-Israel activities on campus, it will give them (or reinforce) an identification to Israel and maybe give them the knowledge they need to stand up to their own PIDS (who as we know tend to live and multiply in higher numbers in academia than in the real world). Kudos to Dr. Mike for a remarkable job!

This is the book that teaches how to respond to the barrage of false accusations made against Israel. Dr. Harris exposes the fallacies of the anti-Israel playbook with clarity, wit and humor. Coining the term PIDS (People with Israel Derangement Syndrome), Dr. Harris reveals the bigotry of this group who ultimately deny to the Jewish people -and only to the Jewish people - the right of self-determination in a portion of their historical homeland.

There is an overwhelming number of excellent books and websites dealing with Israel, the peace process and anti-Semitism. This book gets straight to the heart of debating against BDS and other anti-Israel activities. It provides a clear categorization of the arguments and ideological types encountered when engaging in pro-Israel advocacy.

Terrible Print Job

Looks like they printed out a PDF of the book that was originally scanned-in onto magnetic tape in the 80's, except that their printer could only take 3.5" floppy's, so they turned up the JPEG compression to the max, in order to get it to fit the 1.4 Mb disk size. Then painstakingly glued the whole mess into a decent looking soft cover binding.

Must take a lot of manual labor, hand cranking that printer, which explains the exorbitant price.

full of wrong answers

The textbook is good, but despite so many editions is full of mistakes (mainly the statistical exercises). For the price you would expect this book to be perfect.

Horrible printing

I'm terribly disappointed with this textbook. It looked like copies were made from copies of copies of the hardback version on an office copy machine. (No, I did not accidentally put too many 'copies' in that last sentence.) Some of the pages were crooked and the text quality was very poor. I expect a lot more for $170. This was not a single copy problem. I exchanged my first copy for a second one that was just the same. In the end I rented a hardback copy from elsewhere.

Very useful book for homeopath.

This series helped boost SAT scores!

We have been using this series in our homeschool with great success. It's very easy to use because the words are arranged with a logical sequence to them. First a root prefix/suffix is taught and then the words derived from this are studied. My son, who usually dislikes language arts, did extremely well and enjoyed it. He got very high scores on the SAT test as a result. An additional surprise was that when I took the GRE test this year, I got a very high score on the language exam as well! I credit Vocabulary from Classical Roots with helping us achieve these scores.

great educational tool!

We homeschooled last year and used this book. My daughter has returned to a public school and is just blowing her vocab tests out of the water, while the majority of the students are failing. I intend to show this workbook to her school- it is a great tool for teaching students the greek and latin roots. Easy to follow and plenty of excersises to help them actually learn and retain. Loved it.

My oldest daughter loves them and my boys even think they're "not too bad." The kids work on them about 15 minutes a day. They've helped their spelling and knowledge of root words, and root origins.
