The book provides coverage of three important areas:
- Basic forecasting tools and methods - summarizing data, statistical tools, regression, as well as some material on more advanced forecasting methods
- Data preparation - time series decomposition, smoothing methods
- A discussion of the issues involved in forecasting - long term versus short term forecasting, accuracy of forecasts, the importance and limitations of judgmental forecasts and combining these with statistical forecasts
I was fortunate enough to stumble across this book in a colleagues office and believe this book should belong in every market research professional's shelf.

Excellent book written with the practitioner in mind. Mathematical formalism kept to a minimum. The last 4 chapters (about judgmental forecasting and practical aspects of forecasting) are a plus vs. other books.

Excellent for even experienced landscape professionals

I am using this book as a textbook for a Garden Design class. I have several years of garden design experience and have many more years of gardening experience. This book explains the design process in an easy to understand and inspiring way. I have found that it addresses planting and design in subtley different ways that jog my mind to be more creative. It is well written, well designed and very informative.

Great for Beginners

I moved into a new house and needed to do something with the landscaping. It is a mess. I cannot afford to hire a professional, so I bought this book hoping it would help me come up with a plan on my own. I haven't finished the book yet, but am finding it very helpful. It is more like a text book on how to draw up a garden plan, aimed at professionals, but it isn't overly technical and is fairly informative. I would have given it 5 five stars except that I am not very artistic, and I wish the book had more info to help me in that regard.

Old lore, and a breath of fresh air

I genuinely enjoyed this! The short stories will already be familiar to some fans, but for those who haven't had a chance to read all of the extra content published on the website, these are some of the best. It's a much needed step back from Pandaria. The novella is completely new content that goes a long way to rounding out events preceding Burning Crusade, from the blood elf standpoint.

Personally, the anthology is why I bought this and I was not disappointed, but the quality of the novella was a very pleasant surprise. Much recommended for anyone feeling a bit of burn out with current events, or wanting some quality reading without a novel's worth of time commitment.

This book has an excellent novella inside!

Blood of the highborne is a great masterpiece of lore. Everyone who loves Warcraft should read it, because it is about the Rise of the Lich King - in this case - how high (later blood) elves survived the storming of Silvermoon and how the event changed them.

Short stories are also cool, so giving it five stars our of five.

About the Author
Linda M James is a writer of novels, non-fiction books and screenplays. She has written two historical novels and also had many short stories and poems published. Her non-fiction books are called "How To Write Great Screenplays And Get Them Into Production" and "How To Write And Sell Short Stories." The latter book is being published later this year.

She was commissioned to write three screenplays in 2008/9: "Young Ivanhoe", "Young Helen Of Troy" and "Jesus Christ: The Missing Years". They are all in pre-production. Linda also runs writing workshops in Tunbridge Wells, Kent, UK, where she now lives after living in Malta, Germany and Vienna for eleven years.

This book is excellent. I do not like printing that is sparse just to make pages. This book is printed that way which allows the reader to finish it quickly. Still, the book is excellent.

Excellent!

This reference is exactly what I have been looking for. I am studying Parasitology, Genetics, Anatomy, Physiology and other subjects related to medicine. I have searched high and low for a good reference fro both Greek and Latin roots. This book has almost everything I have looked up. I highly recommend this to anyone else who is curious about etymology. Also, It works great for me (and probably other students) because I have an easier time remembering scientific words when I can translate the roots, prefixes, and suffixes.

Thorough, Concise, Terse & Pithy...

My involvement in biological systematics constantly brings me face to face with scientific terms. Most were crafted from Greek or Latin roots that usually reveal something about the organisms they reference. Though a student of both languages in the 1950's and 1960's, my vocabulary has never been great, so the need for a quick and easily accessed reference is ever present.

Lots of books claim to provide insights into the origins of scientific expressions. Many, if not most, fail miserably at the job. Either they are organized poorly, or they don't give good listings of the various English meanings associated with a given root. This book, however, is organized just as a dictionary should be. Moreover, the English definitions following each word and word form are both adequate and brief, without the fluff that so often confounds and complicates, yet with invaluable aids to parsing (e.g., prefix/suffix distinctions) thrown in. As a result, after investing only a few minutes using this dictionary to parse a scientific term and find the meanings of each component, I can usually determine what the term's originator meant it to convey. None of the other Greek/Latin dictionaries in my possession provide similar faculties.

Besides the main body of the text, Williams devotes several pages, at the back of the book, to the adjectival forms of common geographical names; a list of common terms for animals, plants, structures, activities and habitats; words related to sizes, colors, textures, patterns, numbers, quantity, direction and location, parts of the year, and chemical elements.

In summary, this book is all it is supposed to be and more. I highly recommend it.

THE combining form dictionary to buy.

I bought both this and Donald Borror's Dictionary and found that I truly preferred this. It appears to include everything in Borror's work with many additions and definitions which I found more helpful and interesting. For example, in Borror, Medusa is defined as a jellyfish, but in Williams it correctly identifies Medusa as a Gorgon (although this may be a chicken-egg conundrum.) Upgrades from the Borror work include the Greek forms in Greek plus more sources from languages other than Latin and Greek. The section on colors is far superior (Borror merely gives a color, let's say green, and then lists a few combining forms that mean green. Williams lists many words meaning green and gives concise definitions: smaragdinus - grass-green/emerald-green; a clear, pure green as opposed to venetus - deep sea-green; a dark green tending to dark grey.) Williams also includes a geographical list missing from Borror.
