It does an amazing job at breaking down writing problems into compact units

To be clear, I rate this entire series as 5 stars for content, but 1 star for price.
If this were a black and white workbook for around $10, I would always order these as a required text for my students. It does an amazing job at breaking down writing problems into compact units, giving brief but thorough explanations and then following that up with a small variety of exercises, and concluding with a quiz. My students respond well to the exercises and I do see an improvement in the problem we're working on. As a writing text, it is perhaps lacking in that it focuses on individual problems, and isn't that great at looking at writing as a whole. This is why I would prefer this as a workbook. It serves a necessary purpose, but at this price, I can't in good conscience require my students to buy it.
